Three Solutions for a Sustainable World

We engineer coatings and films that make packaging recyclable without sacrificing the barrier performance your products need. Each solution is designed for a specific recycling stream.

EarthCoating®

EarthCoating is our proprietary mineralized resin made with 51% calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). When paper coated with EarthCoating enters the recycling process, the calcium carbonate acts like clay — it disperses during pulping and is separated out, leaving clean fiber behind.

This means cups, folding cartons, and food trays coated with EarthCoating can be recycled in the standard paper stream — just like any other piece of paper. In fact, recycled EarthCoating fiber has been used to make products like Hallmark gift wrap.

HyperBarrier® Coating

HyperBarrier Coating is a nanocomposite technology applied to paper substrates. It delivers up to 200x improvement in oxygen barrier performance compared to standard coatings — making it possible to replace aluminum foil and metalized layers in paper-based packaging.

Despite its extraordinary barrier properties, HyperBarrier Coating remains repulpable. This means paper packaging that previously required non-recyclable foil layers can now be recycled in the standard paper stream.

Plastic Recycling Stream

HyperBarrier® Film

HyperBarrier Film is a high-performance mono-material resin designed for plastic film applications. It replaces complex multi-layer film structures — sometimes 5 to 7 layers of different plastics — with a single recyclable material.

Because HyperBarrier Film is a mono-material, it can be recycled in the #2 (HDPE) or #4 (LDPE) plastic recycling stream. This is a game-changer for flexible packaging, which has historically been one of the hardest categories to recycle.

Single mono-material structure
Recyclable in #2 or #4 plastic stream
Full barrier: moisture, grease, oxygen, aroma
